Storytime Outline: Shapes

Storytime is a magical opportunity to spark curiosity, ignite imagination, and introduce important concepts. This week, our theme is shapes! Get ready for an engaging session as we explore circles, squares, triangles, and more through stories, songs, and activities that make learning fun.

We’ll start with Charlie Chick Shapes by Nick Denchfield and Ant Parker. This delightful pop-up book follows Charlie Chick as he discovers the world of shapes in everyday objects. With vibrant illustrations and interactive elements, young readers will love identifying shapes alongside Charlie.

Next, we’ll dive into the classic tale of The Little Red Hen. While not explicitly about shapes, this timeless story provides opportunities to discuss shapes found in farming life—like the round grains of wheat or the rectangular loaves of bread. Plus, its focus on teamwork and perseverance is an excellent bonus lesson!

Between stories, we’ll sing songs and play a "Guess the Shape" game, encouraging children to shout out shapes.

Enjoy this storytime outline filled with fun, creativity, and a whole lot of shapes!
