Story Writing Worksheets for kids: Outline, Rough Draft - Free Printable

 

Teach kids the how to breakdown a story and write their own with these free printable worksheet.

Start with the OUTLINE. On this sheet you can find places to brainstorm about characters, the setting, the plot (problem and solution). Kids can also name their story on the outline.

After nailing down the story parts, fill out the ROUGH DRAFT worksheet. Here, kids can write out their story without worrying about perfect spelling or punctuation.

I like to edit the rough draft with a colorful pen. Finally, they can write their final draft on the WRITE A STORY worksheet. This page (front and back) includes space for 3 hand-drawn pictures and three paragraphs of writing. The pages can be duplicated for longer stories. 

These worksheets are perfect for elementary aged students and can be used the classroom, library or at home.
