What is an embroidery sampler?

An embroidery sampler is a piece of fabric where someone practices different types of stitches and designs. It's like a collection of different patterns all in one place! A person might make a sampler to learn new techniques or show off the skills they’ve learned in embroidery. Sometimes, samplers also include pretty pictures or words and are made to look really beautiful. A long time ago, many people used samplers to practice before making bigger projects, like decorating clothes or making quilts.
