Autumn Leaves - Storytime Rhymes, Poems and Fingerplays for Fall
It's almost Fall! There is just something so cozy about fall! Autumn is my favorite time of year for planning storytime. Little ones will love these action rhymes.
Autumn Leaves
Autumn leaves are
falling down (x3)
Autumn leave are falling down,
On my....
head, knees, elbows, nose, etc.
(touch body part)
For older kids, I love to mix things up. I will say "nose!" then touch my knee! This encourages the kiddos to use their "listening ears" instead of their "watching eyes." It also gives them a chance to practice making mistakes!
The second poem, Falling Leaves, is a bit more calming.
Falling Leaves
Autumn winds begin to blow
Leaves fall fast and leaves fall slow
Twirling, twirling all around
Then at last, they touch the ground.
I like to use my mystical, magical voice when reciting this one. Almost as if it is an incantation.
