Snowflake Embroidery Free Printable Sewing Craft for Teens

Winter is finally here and this week at the library, we are doing cozy crafts.
This embroidered snowflake can be hung on your tree as on ornament, worn as a backpack or purse charm, hung on the wall as wall art.

Directions:

1. Print out your snowflake template.

2. Using your embroidery tracing paper, trace the design onto your felt. Trace the design twice, for the front and back.

3. Using 4 strands of White Floss, begin to stitch your design. Use Backstitch to create the straight lines of the snowflake, and a French knot at the tip of each of the main six lines. Use Lazy Daisy/Detached Chain stitch to create the rounded petals coming from the center. Use Fishbone stitch to add the small leaves.

4. When you are done stitching the design, cut out your snowflake. You can use water to erase any remaining lines from the tracing paper.

5. Use 3 strands of blue thread and the Blanket stitch to stitch both sides together.

6. Before you stitch the shape closed, add some stuffing to your ornament. Be sure to fill each point of the snowflake. Continue stitching until your ornament is stitched closed.

7. Using ribbon or a strand of embroidery floss, create the ornament hanger by looping your strand under one of your Blanket stitches.
